Republican Party Reprimands Tyler Diep for Lying About Janet Nguyen's Record
Orange County, CA -- Today, the Republican Party of Orange County reprimanded candidate Tyler Diep after Diep repeatedly lied about Republican Janet Nguyen's record.
"I want to thank the Republican Party for investigating Tyler Diep's falsehoods and lies about my record," said Janet Nguyen. "I am very proud of my conservative record and service to Orange County."
Janet Nguyen has represented central Orange County both as a County Supervisor and as a Senator. She is running in the 72nd Assembly District in March with the support of leading Orange County Republicans.
Tyler Diep was elected in the 72nd District in 2018 after promising to give the district conservative representation. In his first 10 months in the Assembly, Diep gave Gov. Gavin Newsom 884 key votes, betraying his promise to the voters. Among the liberal bills Diep voted for was AB 5, widely considered the worst legislation to come out of Sacramento in years. Labor unions and liberal donors from San Francisco and Sacramento are now funding Diep's campaign and Diep's earlier GOP endorsement has been officially revoked.
The ruling in its entirety states: "A complaint was filed by former Sen. Janet Nguyen against Assemblyman Tyler Diep under the Ethics procedures of the Republican Party of Orange County. After hearing by the Ethics Committee and a report therefrom, the Executive Committee of the Republican Party found that Assemblyman Diep mischaracterized former Sen. Nguyen's vote on an early version of SB10 as subsidizing healthcare for illegal aliens, and her endorsement of union backed Santa Ana Council candidate Mirna Velasquez as a Democrat. Assemblyman Diep is hereby reprimanded for those two instances."
