In Response To Grassroots Effort Governor Updates Reopen Guidelines To Include Nail Salons
"We made this happen together through grassroots activation. Today's announcement is proof that if we unite together we can be a powerful voice."
ORANGE COUNTY, CA - - This morning former State Senator Janet Nguyen submitted more than 2,000 signatures to the Governor's office demanding him to allow California's nail salons to reopen. This afternoon the Governor updated reopening guidelines to include nail salons as part of his Stage 3 reopening plan.
"I'm thankful to the Governor for updating reopening guidelines to include nail salons," said Janet Nguyen. "I'm thankful for the more than 2,000 petition signers that took part in our grassroots effort to make this happen. We made this happen together through grassroots activation. Today's announcement is proof that if we unite together we can be a powerful voice.
"Nail salons, many of them family owned and operated, for many are the true definition of the American dream and lead to a better life for both owners and employees. All nail salons want, is to be treated fairly. They have been through a lot due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many nail salons didn't qualify for small business assistance and these updated guidelines put them on the path to relief."
Former State Senator Janet Nguyen was first call for the Governor to apologize and request evidence to prove that a nail salon was responsible for the spread of COVID-19 in California. She launched her online petition on June 8th after Governor Gavin Newsom announced plans to reopen bars, professional sports and fitness clubs after already allowing many different businesses to reopen including barbershops/hair salons but excluded nail salons.
